My Background

I graduated from Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Pondicherry which is a premier institute in India. I obtained postgraduate degree i.e. MS in Orthopaedics from Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI), Chandigarh in 1993. PGI is one of the most renowned joint replacement centers in India.

After obtaining basic training in Orthopaedics, I joined St. John’s Medical College Hospital in Bangalore as a Lecturer in Orthopaedics. Later I went to the UK for further training in Orthopaedic super-specialties. I spent over a year and a half at Norfolk & Norwich Hospital where I was trained in Joint replacement, Arthroscopy and Pelvic and Acetabular fracture fixation. During my five years stay in the United Kingdom, I was exposed to other super-specialties such as Paediatric Orthopaedics, Hand & Foot Surgery, Spinal Surgery and Revision joint replacement. I was elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) and obtained M Sc degree in Trauma Surgery from the Institute of Accident Surgery, Birmingham.

After returning to India, I joined as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Peerless Hospital, Kolkata. Currently I am working as a Senior Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Apollo Gleneagles Hospital, Kolkata.
